I miss this place. The ambiance, the food, the live music, just a wonderful experience every time. Thanks for the memories.

One of my fav spots and I'm so sad that it's closed. Really hoping they figure out the dispute with Ala Moana soon.

Shirokiya Japan Village Walk is a food court type area and they are located in the Ala Moana Center. It is probably one of the better and nicer food courts that I had been to before with a decent amount of good dessert and food choices. Of course it was also clean and pretty compared to other food courts that I had been to. They had an area off to the side that had rows of toy capsule machines and an area in the back that sold Rilakkuma merchandise/plushies.

Pos: - variety of selections of foods. Sukiyaki, ramen, desserts, beers, meets, sushi and more. - Feels like in Japan. You'll feel that vibe! - Foods are delicious and good prices. - Some are awarded restaurants! - live music play (not all the time) Con: - Crowded

I loved this place. My friends loved this place. Ala Mona is not the same without SJVW. This place brought in everyone. My SO is heartbroken. :(

Oh boy really loved this place. This place just had lots and lots to offer. Can get really crowded but there is a reason for that. Great food of all types. This is for sure one of my favorite food courts. Just wish I found it sooner before our last day of stay. Would have loved to go back at least one more time. But we will be back soon enough. They had a vest of different eats. From ramen to rice dishes and grilled items. Crapes to ice cream and mochi. I mean we got a lot for a single sitting. Haha. Most vendors I would have to say was very friendly. Hard to go with larger groups due to it being crowded and hard to get all seats together. But we all loved it and hope to be back very soon.

It's not sounding good for their re-opening. According to a Civilbeat article yesterday, there's a messy legal battle going on. (courtesy of on the ground reporting from "where's my lunch?" Brian S.) They'll be missed . . .

As we speak, the whole Shirokiya is closed until further notice... Felt so sad, could not eat so many yummy food here.

Back in 2016 when were in O'ahu to attend my cousin's wedding, fam bam was telling us we should visit Ala Moana Center. I told 'em, "Sure, we'll check it out" without actually planning on going. In my mind, I was thinking why would I want to visit a mall in Hawai'i when there so much more places I'd rather go. When we got back home, then I found out what we missed here - a Japanese-style food court. So when we were vacationing again last year, we made sure to make a visit, which we did on our last full night in O'ahu. After spending the afternoon at Ko Olina Lagoons, we drove straight here with a full appetite in tow. After luckily locating a parking spot next to a foot bridge, we read the kiosk board and followed the directions while trying not to get distracted and tempted by so many other food options along the way. As soon as we approached the entrance I was getting excited and could feel my heartbeat racing. As soon as I stepped inside, all my mind can say at that point was "WOAH!" It was a full frontal assault on the senses, but in a good way. The place was lively teeming with locals and tourists enjoying the food with their family, loved ones and friends. This was like a foodie heaven and we didn't know where to start. We just started walking around and gawking at the dozens of food stalls available. It was a constant "ooh's and ah's" being repeated in my head as I looked left, right, front and back of me. Back then, we took this activity for granted being in such a wonderful place packed with people just mingling around minding their own business. There was the constant sound of people talking and the occasional laughter here and there. There was a buzz in the air, and you can feel the energy in motion. It was like waves upon waves of activities building up to a crescendo. The constant flow of bodies moving, talking, eating, drinking, smiling and laughing while enjoying each others' company. Damn, how I miss this. Shirokiya provided all these and then some. I was giddy after getting a hold of some coupons that read $1 Beer. I immediately sought the kiosk, which was conveniently located at the center of this place acting like a lighthouse guiding people safely to its shore. The line was long, as to be expected, but they were fast, friendly and efficient. The beer is Primo Beer, a local beer - a brand that I haven't had before, and it was light, tasty and refreshing. It was a good pairing for whatever food we ate that day. Since it was light, it gave us plenty of room in our stomachs since we ate a lot of food that day. Ala Moana has another food court here, but that would have to wait for another day. Shirokiya is like going to Japan without actually going to Japan. I even spotted a lot of Nihonjin tourists in here. Now that certainly is a good sign. I know this place is closed right now due to the pandemic, but we will definitely return to experience it again once we go back to normal. #YelpChallenge2020 review No. 50 (In honor of the 50th state)

You'll be overwhelmed if it's your first time here. So many to choose from. I love to walk around first - getting a feel of what i'm hungry for or something that stops me in my track. Honestly everything is good but you're always going to feel as if you should have tried something else! I love the different types of Ramen, broths and add-ins. There's spicy or mild, i'm not a spicy type of person but my sons are. When i tasted there's i have to say ITS EXTREMELY SPICY.. so if you're like me "mild person" stick to mild. My mild was still a tad spicy. They have $1 draft beer as well. The only thing i didn't see was a soda fountain machine. They only sell drinks in cans or plastic bottles.
